Information given during the meeting by Paul Wigfield

The Application Pack coming (for free) for Vista 4 later this year will contain:
  • Assessment Rubric
  • Blogging Tool (with Polling)
  • Dynamic Activity Settings
  • Extended Reporting
  • Increased Accessibility
  • Learning Object Manager
  • Web Links can be added by students
  • Profile Tool
  • Peer Review Tool
  • Student Input into Media Library
  • ePortfolio (will need to be payed for)

Paul Street shares this feedback from colleagues at Northern Arizona University with us After having migrated from Vista 3 to Vista 4 they say:
  • "Maddeningly close to a big improvement"
  • Pleased to move away from the use of IFS
  • Some bugs - they estimate a fair amount of fixes for a few months
  • Users aware of problems but they are getting through
  • Changes on sys admin, some not expected e.g. some reporting moved from realtime to materialized views (snapshots) which affected integration code
  • Provided a retraining session for academics
  • Nothing special on students

And he adds: "Here at King's we are keen to move. Apart from general currency principles, this is because we are looking at load balancing application nodes. We would prefer not to do it on V3 and then again on V4 because the systems management is understood to be different without IFS."
