Test the downloading and uploading of different files

The aim of this page is to allow you to test different file types in a course that you created.
Note: Files in Internet Explorer 7 that come with accented characters in their file name such as "à,ä,ü,è,ê, etc. can cause the file to not upload or to not be visible to the students. As such accents can also cause trouble for exports from Vista or into other tools it is generally recommended to never use them in file names. See also our Do's or don'ts HOWTOs.
First phase of testing: From a link in the course.
- Go to your Vista course
- Open the 'URL tool' and create a URL-entree using the URL of this page: http://www.edutech.ch/vista/docs/HOWTOs/VIS060E_DownAndUploadTest.php!
- Select Student View
- Go to the newly created URL link on your homepage and open it.
- Follow the test instruction on the page that opens.
Test the download of a word-file (.doc) from our server
- Clicking the following link you should be able to open or download a test page bearing the title Areas of changes for VISTA 4. Link.
A dialog should show allowing you to either open or download the file. looking something like this:

Depending on the settings of your browser the page might also automatically show in Vista. If neither of this happens you need to adjust the settings as indicated in the page Downloading of Files Doesn't Work.
Test the download of a PDF-file (.pdf) from our server
- Clicking the following link you should be able to open or download a test page bearing the title How to make a Forum work. Link.
A dialog should show allowing you to either open or download the file. looking something like this:

- Clicking the following link you should be able to open or download a test page containing a satirical image. Link.

Second phase of testing: downloading from inside Vista
- Download the follwing Zip-File to your hard drive.
- Upload the Zip-File "FilesForDownloadTest.zip" into the File Manger of your Vista course and unzip during upload.
- Link the html-file "VIS060E_DownAndUploadTest.html" from that unzipping onto the homepage of your course.
- Do the same download tests as described above.
