Usage Comments
Surveys are anonymous online tests for which there are no grades assigned. However, when a survey is created, a column is also created in Grade Book. When a student takes the survey this column is updated to indicate Complete. With surveys, you can:
- forward the results to an external e-mail address.
- generate statistics from the survey results.
Note: Because the results are anonymous, surveys are ideal for course evaluations or for canvassing students' opinions on an issue discussed in the course.
How to do it in Vista
It is more or less a three step process using the assessment tool.- Create Survey Questions.
- Create the specific Survey Assessment
- Editing Quiz Properties
Create the specific Survey Assessment
- From the Assessments screen, click Create Assessment. The Create Assessment screen appears.
- In the Title text box, enter the assessment title. This title appears in the assessment listing in both the Section Designer and Student views.
- From the three assessment types select "Survey".
- Select whether or not you want to base this assessment on an existing assessment.
Create Survey Questions
In a Survey you can use any of the 8 question types that you can create with the tool. For more information select any of the Example Test Pages under Assessment in the Learning Activities HOWTOs such as this Example of a True False test.Survey with Multiple Choice questions
If you create multiple choice questions for a survey you can choose between allowing One or multiple answers.
Note: Even if this appears awkward to you, you will need to select the checkbox for "correct answer" to all the answers or enter at least one value into a percentage field for a question. The letter might be helpful if you aim for a global numeric result.
