Publishing Tests from Respondus QTI in Vista
Introduction
WebCTs Help for: Importing Quizz Content, German Version, French Version.
Respondus is a tool for the creation and administration of questions and tests that might either be printed on paper or be published directly in a Learning Management System (LMS) such as WebCT CE, Vista, Moddle or others. Respondus especially supports the IMS QTI (Question and Test interoperability)-standard, which allows to exchange questions and test with other QTI-compatible applications.
This HOWTO describes the creation of questions and tests based on the IMS QTI 1.1+ standard that is supported by Respondus 2., and their publication in Vista. The same description will apply also to other platforms supporting the standard.
The main advantage of creating your tests and questions with Respondus and not directly in Vista are:
- platform independence, in respect to applications that are IMS QTI-compatible
- separation of the administration of questions and tests and their presentation to the students.
- storing the questions and tests in an open file format accessible also with a simple text editor such as the Bloc-Note or Wordpad.
Prerequisites
- Respondus 2 with a one user license allowing using the IMS QTI standard.
(The limited edition (LE) will allow the creation of questions and tests, but not their publication in the IMS QTI standard.) - An IMS QTI standard application such as Vista.

- It must contain two xml-files

- MyFileName.xml (file containing the questions).
Importing the Test into Vista
In Vista, imported tests are added automatically to the Assessment-tool. The imported questions are automatically added to the Question Database.
