AAI Login error messages and their likely causes...

Cookies must be enabled

First off, check that cookies are enabled in your browser. They are necessary in order for the login to work.

FATAL: Invalid Resource (at login.virtualcampus.ch)

Problem: The URL was "truncated". It was probably split into more than one line in an email program and the student just clicked on the link in the email.

Solution: Copy and paste the complete URL directly in the browser. You might have to ask the student for a copy of the email he received so you can tell him exactly what the complete URL is.

FATAL: Autosignon Error (asdf1234@university.ch) Your WebCT ID (asdf1234@university.ch) is unknown
(at login.virtualcampus.ch)

Problem: The student is not yet enrolled in a course in the institution. The student has tried to access their myWebCT page by either clicking on the AAI login button in Vista, or clicking on the Login URL sent to them in an email.

Solution:The student needs to enroll in at least one course before they can use the AAI login button or the Login URL. They probably didn't understand about first enrolling in the course with the really long Enrollment URL. You might have to ask them to send you a copy of the email they received so you can see what the enrollment URL is and point it out to them.

You have entered an incorrect username or password (at athena.virtualcampus.ch)

Problem: This error message is generated by Vista when a Vista username or password is not recognized. The student entered their AAI login in the Vista login.

Solution:Use the AAI login, not the Vista login. Change the institution login page to refer to the AAI login in a way that the student recognizes what the "AAI login" is (for example, at Uni ZH they say "Uniaccess" login.)

You do not have access to this Learning Context (at athena.virtualcampus.ch)

Problem: This error message is generated by Vista when an institution administrator tries to enroll in a course as a student. Vista does not allow the same user to be a student and an administrator at the same time.

Solution:You cannot enroll as a student if you are an institution administrator. If you need to test both roles, create a local WebCT user for the administrator role and then use the AAI login to test the student role.

Double check that the user who sees this message does not have institution admin rights (in the Vista User Manager).

Also, double check that the course id part of the URL is correct.

Another cause could be that you've used the Vista Section IMS ID from an incorrect level. For example, you may have copied the IMS ID from the group level and not from the course level.
