As of August 1st, 2008, the Edutech web site will no longer be. Edutech was funded by the Swiss Virtual Campus programme, which ended on July 31st, 2008. Some activities will be taken over by the e-Learning Services group at the SWITCH foundation.

How-To about RSS Feeds

Edutech and Girafe have a news feed which can be displayed on any web site (as well as in any news reader). See http://www.edutech.ch and http://girafe.unige.ch/

How can it be integrated?

The technical solution is simple (but quite powerful), and uses RSS feeds.

If you want to read news, use these URLs :
- for the Edutech feed : http://edutech.ch/forum/rss.php?f=5&t=1
- for the Girafe feed : http://girafe.unige.ch/backend.php
If you want to be a news producer, create an RSS feed and re-distribute its address (e.g. by sending it to edutech). See for instance RSS - A Primer for Publishers & Content Providers on how to do this. (Here's an intro in German)

Note: using RSS in SharePoint shouldn't be difficult, see for instance "SharePoint Syndication Generator", or http://www.smilinggoat.net/stuff.aspx.

How can I contribute?

Here are also some suggestions for writing your news (open for discussion):

write clear (not too short) titles.
write your news so that they can also be understood by people who are not familiar with your activities (one could also imagine to have "internal" and "external" news).
