OLAT 5.1 Release
23 Apr 2007
The OLAT team released OLAT 5.1 This is a major release including some new functionality and a lot of small improvements as well as bugfixes.

Please note that OLAT 5.1.0 has only been released at the University of Zurich. The productive OLAT 5.1 Public release is in fact OLAT 5.1.2.

OLAT 5.1 is mainly a consolidation release. As you can see from the release notes list < http://www.olat.org/public/download/releasenotes/ 5-1-x.html>, the OLAT team included over 170 improvements and bugfixes. We decided that before implementing new features we needed to improve the existing features. Nevertheless OLAT 5.1 includes some new features:

* New Wiki engine: The new Wiki engine offers a lot more functions (eg. image thumbnails, footnotes etc.) and works better (many bugs have been fixed) than the one introduced in OLAT 5.0. Please refer to http://jamwiki.org/wiki/en/Wiki_Syntax for the full Wiki syntax.
* Glossary: OLAT now offers a learning resource called "glossary" which can be included into one or serveral courses. Please refer to the manual for further information.
* HTML-Editor now offers easy possibility to include internal links to course elements (no need to copy and paste IDs and gotonode- javascripts)
* Accessability: content area is marked for an access key and within tables you can jump directly to the first row.
* SCORM: values from the SCORE variable can now be used within learning paths.
* Table Selection: Tables offer now checkboxes to select more then one row for executing an action. (Multiselect feature)
* Search: the google known "did you mean" functionality is implemented if no results were found.

For a full list of changes please refer to the OLAT 5.1.x release notes
<http://www.olat.org/public/download/releasenotes/5-1-x.html>.

If you have any questions/comments, please feel free to contact us.

The 5.1.2 release is available as source code release for production environments and as demo installer release for testing purpose. Please fetch your copy at the Download section at the olat.org website.

Thanks to the growing community that helped finding bugs that made this release more stable. The community did also a great job in translating OLAT into several new languages.
Please continue submitting any bugs you may encounter at <http:// bugs.olat.org>. There you'll also be able to browse issues and bugs as well as see the detailed development roadmap.
